About Me

I was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York, just about 80 miles north of the Big Apple. I now live in Hyde Park, New York, the former home of Franklin Roosevelt, but I didn’t let that stop us from living there. Seriously, it’s a real nice town, rich with history.

My wife Christine and I were happily married for 37 years until she passed away in 2019. We have seven (yes seven) children, 5 boys and two girls. I am passionate about my relationships, with God and my family; they are the fuel for my creativity and the drive to finish strong.

I’m the founder of Strategic Fathering Ministries, a ministry for men.

In January of 2013 I became a pastor and serve the wonderful hearts of Bridge Builders Community Church, if you’re in town, please drop by!

I was awarded the 2016 MEN Impact Change Award, honored by the Men Impact Change Organization for my 25 years of dedication in the service of men through Strategic Fathering Ministries.

I have been published in the following books; God’s Way for Fathers, God’s Ways for Teachers, God’s Way for Christmas, Smiles for Dads, Soul Matters for Men, The Rainy Day Book, A Man of Honor and God Makes Lemonade series.

I host ManUp Moment, a two minute radio spot, heard on the Sound of Life Radio Network, and on your favorite podcast app.

One of my passions is speaking into men’s lives and I have been honored to speak nationally at Iron Sharpens Iron men events and numerous men’s conferences/retreats/events closer to home throughout the Hudson Valley.

My new devotion book for men, “Sonship: Restoring a Man’s Identity” is available on Amazon.

I’m also a graphic designer (over 40 years) and you can check my work out at jaycookingham.com
